How can I get a refund if the business won’t answer their phone?« Back to Questions List

Help! I was shopping online and bought some things that I thought I just HAD to have. When I received the items, however, I realized that I already had something very similar. I want to return my purchase and get my money back. I’ve tried calling, but the merchant won’t answer my calls. I’ve left messages to no avail. What should I do?

First, check the terms of service and the merchant’s return policy.

Look for your receipt, bill of sale, or verification emails that may detail the return policy and procedures. Or, take a look at the merchant’s website. Is there a policy page? Many retailers have specific steps that must be taken in order to return merchandise.

Find the specific steps the merchant requires and follow them.

Second, try an alternate method of communication with the merchant. If you’ve tried calling, find other ways to reach out. Does the company list an email address? Does the website have a contact form? Send a message to the customer service department. Or, see if you can find the business on social media.

Still no luck? We can help.

Fill out a claim form with eConsumer Services®. We can help you secure your refund, without any additional hassle. The process is fast, painless, and secure.
